Computer Engineering Curriculum |
|
The Computer Engineering program is a multi-disciplinary program, run jointly by the Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering departments. Students take courses in computer organization, operating systems, network protocols, embedded systems and robotics. They study more programming and software design than in the Electrical Engineering program, and more digital logic and design than in the Computer Science program. This understanding of both software and hardware allows the student to view the design and development of hardware and software as two intimately linked parts of one activity. Applications of computer engineering can be found in communication systems, the entertainment industry, mobile robot systems, motor vehicle systems, and in every computer, whether on a desk, in a lap, in a cell phone, or in a "farm" of high-power Web servers.
